Carbon film potentiometer is made by coating a layer of carbon film on a horseshoe shaped paper adhesive board. There are three types of relationships between the resistance change and the position of the intermediate contact: linear, logarithmic, and exponential. There are several types of carbon film potentiometers, including large, small, and micro. Some are combined with switches to form potentiometers with switches.
